Week 1, Part 2

Week 1 of the training plan is in the books. Finished the week with a 2 mile run on Thursday night, a 6.8 mile bike on Saturday night, and a 6 mile run on Sunday evening.

It was nice to get out on my bike for a workout, I don’t know the last time (maybe never?) that I biked outdoors for exercise. It was a nice change of pace, and more fun than the stationary bike in the basement. In both running and biking I far prefer being outside moving through the world versus doing all that work to stay in place.

The Thursday and Sunday runs were both sort of annoying. Thursday because it was late-ish (8:00 pm) and I was tired and had a full stomach from dinner (never a pleasant experience). Sunday was similar – late in the day, the day after cross-training (ideally would swap these two), and after having been on my feet a fair amount that day.

As the weeks go on and the mileage ramps up I’ll need to be better about planning my runs, getting up early to fit them in before the day starts, and not just trying to squeeze them in between other happenings.
